FaltyDL – Make it Difficult
6/10
Retro; vintage; old school; whatever you want to call it, its back in a big way, and no more so than in dance music. Drew Lustman, aka FaltyDL, continues to pursue such aesthesis in his music with his latest offering ‘Make it Difficult For You’. Built around moody chords and repetitive vocal phrases, reminiscent of early 90’s house cuts, it retains Falty’s signature percussive elements.
The B-side ‘Jack Your Job’ continues in the same vain. However, there is a tendency in Falty’s music for crowding, and this is a prime example. At times cliché, and at times overdone, the track includes a random flute section Ron Burgundy would be proud of. The voice is apparently Louis Farrakhan, the Chicago leader of the Nation of Islam. Strange.
All in all, it is an interesting EP; not groundbreaking; not breathtaking; but, it is enjoyable and well worth 6 minutes of your time. Check it out below, and as always let us know what you think.
